Nestled in the heart of Colorado’s Central Plains, Old Town Museum embodies “Life In The Past Lane”. The 6 ½ acre historic site includes 21 fully restored buildings with authentic artifacts from the turn-of-the-century. Easily accessible from I-70 near the Colorado/Kansas border, Old Town Museum celebrates local agriculture, history, and heritage.
Special Interactive Exhibits offer children a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about pioneer life on the Colorado prairie. Visit the old fashioned soda fountain and relive the era of the soda jerk. Get a creamy hand dipped ice cream treat.
The Old Town Emporium is a Shoppers Delight… Nearly 2,000 square feet of hand-crafted collectibles, gifts, keepsakes and souvenirs. On weekends ride the Old Town Express, a horse drawn wagon, to the Kit Carson County Carousel. This majestic hand carved Arabian pony and his 45 wooden friends march to the tunes of a Wurlitzer Monster Military Band Organ on the Kit Carson County Carousel located on the Fairgrounds at Burlington. The carousel was carved by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1905 and is now a National Historic Landmark. It has been fully restored to its original splendor and operates from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
