Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge Colorado Tourism

Bring your binoculars when visiting this refuge. Featuring 11,168 acres bordered by the Rio Grande, this refuge provides habitat for a diverse group of species.

Careful watchers will spot high-flying hawks, bald and golden eagles; water-bound geese, ducks, sandhill cranes, and light-stepping mule deer. For the easiest viewing, plan to visit during the spring and fall when flocks in the refuge are largest.

Sandhill Crane
