Dinosaurs walked across this land when it was yet a flood plain leaving their tracks to bear witness to ancient life.
Nucla was founded in 1904. Naturita (Spanish for little nature) in 1881 by Pioneers traveling by wagon across the Uncompahgre Plateau which is now Hwy. 90.
Cattle and farming has and continues to play a part in the support of the area along with Uranium ore which was discovered in the early 1900’s. |
